An 18th Century Scholar's Display Cabinet.
A fine and simple scholar's case from Shanxi province. Made from purple elm with traces of the original black lacquer. The elegant form suggest a bench on top of another bench. This would have been a free standing piece in the middle of a room as the detail is on all four sides. The height measures 63", the width is 38" and the depth is 18 1/2". The price is $5400.
